Civic Awards Night

On Friday 7th March, Westhoughton Town Council held their 2025 Civic Awards Ceremony at The Den, Westhoughton Lions. Nominations for the Categories of Environment, Young Citizen of the Year, Citizen and Civic Award.

There was a buffet reception and enjoyable entertainment by Nick Bertram Powell.

Civic Award Winner - David Kaye

Citizen of the Year Nomination - Stephen Barton, Karen Millington and Lesley Monks.

Citizen of the Year Winner- Julie Hall

Environmental Award Winner - Adult - Peter Hulse (received by Mrs Hulse)

Environmental Award Winner - Young Person - Harper Anderson-Ashton

Young Citizen of the Year Nomination - Esme Robinson, Elias Phillips-Tighe and Freddie Murphy

Young Citizen of the Year Winner - Katie Smillie

To Celebrate Houghton Weavers 50th Anniversary the Council granted Freedom of the Town to past and present members. David Littler, Denis Littler and Norman Prince received their certificates at this event. Jim Berry, Steve Millington and Mrs Andrea Berry (widow of Tony Berry) will receive their certificates at their concert on the 21st March at St Bartholomew’s Church.
