Deputy Mayor Visits Senior Solutions

Deputy Mayor, Cllr Gillian Wroe, visited Senior Solutions on Tuesday 12th November. Cllr Wroe writes “‘On Tuesday afternoon it was my pleasure to attend Senior Solutions as Deputy Mayor of Westhoughton. I’ve never made a secret of the fact that I absolutely love visiting this group as it is such a joyous place. Staff, volunteers and the lovely people who attend are always so welcoming and friendly. So I say “Thank you again”. 

 Mr Mark Webster, a teacher from Westhoughton High School, gave a short (and very moving) presentation about the links already forged between the school and Senior Solutions and how they want to strengthen them. He mentioned that the original introduction was through Harold Daniels, who has a Westhoughton Town Council award named after him. 

The pupils who came with Mr Webster included the Lead Prefects Ellis and Pamona. Young people often get a bad press but it is a privilege to meet and highlight the work done by these amazing pupils. 

The afternoon culminated in entertainment from duo Josephine and Peter.”
