Great British Spring Clean

Written by Cllr Wroe - “On Sunday afternoon the 6th of April we completed the 4th and last litter pick, organised by Westhoughton Town Council, as part of the Great British Spring Clean 2025. 

Residents Barbara, John and Brian joined Councillors Sarita Chohan, Alison Jackson , David Wilkinson and Gillian Wroe in Wingates Park, off Holden Lea, for a couple of hours in the sunshine clearing up a total of 21 bags of litter plus various large items including traffic cones, pop up tents, a small rocking horse and a fire extinguisher! 

Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers who across the four picks have helped to remove a total of 125 bags, plus the large junk, from our streets, hedgerows and parks.

 Thanks also to the army of volunteers who change the green litter bags and do individual picks week in week out.’
